Juana of Castile, Part 2

Welcome back! We’re not only wrapping up our Quarantine Queens series and the life of Juana of Castile. We’re also wrapping up the season! Yup, this is our last episode until September, but don’t worry. It’s depressing.

With an intro from Your Brain on Facts, we pick up where we last left Juana. She’s living in absolute misery living in the lands of her husband, aka: Philip the Handsome (?).

riiiiiight.

Juana, daughter of the great Isabella and Ferdinand, should have lived the life of a formidable queen in her own right. But instead, she was fucked over by three. fucking. generations. of men who should have loved and supported her. #fragiledickenergy

For this season finale, we’ve both ditched the fancy drink recipes and opted for wine because… well, we don’t need a reason to drink wine.

We mention this book in the show, the sources below, and the previous show notes, but I wanted to shout out this fantastic book we used as a main source for these last two episodes. We really cannot recommend this book enough. It’s very on-brand for our fans.

Sister Queens by Julia Fox follows the separate but tragic lives of Juana and her sister, Catherine of Aragon. It’s super well researched and, if you’re anything like us, you’re going to have a hard time putting it down. It’ll also make you like… really hate Ferdinand of Aragon.

Alright! That’s it for our Quarantine Queens series. We’ve had a really great time learning about these locked up ladies, but now… we take our summer break.

But don’t worry! We’ll still be working on our Patreon page while we’re on break. And we have some great recommendations coming your way to tide you over.

Cheers, bitches!
